During his second season with the Knicks, King scored 50 points in back to back games against the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks. This event was later deemed the Texas Massacre. In 1985, King suffered from a terrible knee injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 1986-1987 season.
