In his first season playing under the roof of the historic Madison Square Garden, King averaged a team best 21.9 ppg. King quickly developed into one of the leagues premier players as he headlined the Knicks offensive attack. During his second season with the Knicks, King scored 50 points in back to back games against the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks. This event was later deemed the Texas Massacre. In 1985, King suffered from a terrible knee injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 1986-1987 season. King returned with the Washington Bullets where he continued to be a huge scoring threat. $300.00

King would be sidelined for two seasons, and upon his return the Knicks released him because they were unsure of his future ability. On October 16, 1987, King signed with the Washington Bullets. King proved his critics wrong as he scored over 20 points three times during his four years in the nation’s capital.
