King would be sidelined for two seasons, and upon his return the Knicks released him because they were unsure of his future ability. On October 16, 1987, King signed with the Washington Bullets. King proved his critics wrong as he scored over 20 points three times during his four years in the nation’s capital. In 1991, King averaged 28.4 ppg and returned to the All Star game for the first time since 1985.
