NFL Football Jerseys – Does it Pay?
Counterfeit
NFL football jerseys are a
growing problem for the National Football League and its
players. Football
fans are being cheated by slick marketers who pass off these
discounted fake jerseys as the real thing.
Can NFL fans protect themselves against being duped?
Well
help is on the way!
Police
and NFL officials are confiscating thousands of counterfeit
football jerseys at all the major metropolitan sports towns.
NFL authorities scoop up over $1 million in fake football
shirts and jerseys, NFL souvenirs, pennants, etc. at Super Bowl
sites each winter.
The
NFL has assigned security personnel in each team market to work
with local authorities. They
identify and confiscate counterfeit football jerseys and tee
shirts from bogus vendors.
Selling
or manufacturing counterfeit jerseys is a very serious crime.
Penalties for a first offense are a fine of up to $2
million and 10 years in prison.
A second offense virtually doubles these penalties.
Unfortunately,
counterfeit NFL jerseys are big business.
It is estimated that tens of millions of dollars are lost
each year to counterfeiters.
NFL sales are lost, producers’ royalties are unpaid,
and football fans get inferior quality merchandise – everyone
loses!
To
make sure that the NFL football jersey or shirt you are
purchasing is the official version, look for the NFL logo in a
hologram affixed somewhere on the jersey.
Another tip-off that it’s a fake football jersey is the
name of the team or player is misspelled.
For
all you fans of the Steelers rookie quarterback, Ben
Roethlisberger, take an extra minute and check the jersey’s
spelling.

isn’t that easy to get right!
